HarvestMark is the fresh food traceability solution from YottaMark. We've spent time in the fields, pack houses, coolers, and distribution centers to understand your business and develop a solution that is easy to deploy, reliable, and delivers item- and case-level traceability and a new marketing platform. Below is a look under the hood at the HarvestMark technology.

Traceability System: Harvest Data at the Unit Level

The HarvestMark solution starts off with YottaMark secure encrypted Codes. These Codes are non-sequential, and non-repeating, giving each product unit a unique identity.

Codes are printed on product labels or directly on product packaging. You can choose to print them on either the top or bottom label. Examples are shown:

Through a process that requires no technology in the field, each Code becomes associated with that product unit's specific harvest data. We developed tools and workflows that are easy to deploy in field packed fresh, line packed, and processed food workflows.

Now that each product has a unique ID, and is associated with its harvest data, distributors, customers, and the end-consumer can trace the product on the Web or at a HarvestMark Kiosk. The brand owner controls the data that is displayed to each class of user. Each user experiences a new level of information at their fingertips about both fresh food products and the related brand.

In addition to traceability, growers, shippers, and packers get a new dashboard into their operations. Each day, confidential HarvestMark Harvest Reports are produced providing new insights into ranch, grower, or pack house operations, performance, and trends.

Unit-Level Marketing Tools

When a user enters a Code to trace a product, a response page is presented. This is the brand owners' opportunity to present traceability information, reinforce the brand, enhance consumer affinity to the brand, sell, and cross-sell.

Each response page can include rich content including maps, video, animated images, and other web elements, promoting the product the user is holding in his or her hands, or cross selling related products. In effect each traceability transaction results in a one-to-one marketing event, at the unit level.

Product Notifications Engine: Food Safety and Customer Communication

The HarvestMark solution gives shippers the power to post any form of product notification and easily relate it to a specific set of product units. The shipper determines the form of the notification (safety notice, quality notice, recall notice, informational notice). Notifications can be posted by range of Codes, by date range, by ranch, by crew, etc., making it easy to associate the notice with just the right set of product units.

When someone traces a product unit that has a posted notification, the notice appears as an alert on the response page. Clicking on the alert leads the user to your approved text and your links to additional resources. You decide which group of users can see each notice.

Online Survey Tools: New Insights into Customer Preference

In addition to delivering the brand message, selling, and cross selling, HarvestMark offers the option to run consumer surveys. When enabled the survey is offered as an option on the response page.

HarvestMark Kiosk: In-Store Traceability

The standard HarvestMark solution brings traceability to you, your distributors, customers, and the end-consumer at home through the HarvestMark web portal. Now with the HarvestMark Kiosk traceability can be delivered in the retail store.

Shoppers simply present the HarvestMark coded label to the scanner and are instantly presented with traceability and product information. The shipper and retailer control the information that is displayed, which might reinforce organic and sustainability practices, present a description and images of the product, or display a harvest date or date range (e.g. picked within the last week).
